The upRising – a church without walls (the “Church”) Website [https://www.uprisingaustin.org] (the “Website”), and related websites are owned and operated by the Church. The Church understands that you care how information about you is collected, used, and shared. The Church is committed to protecting your privacy through our compliance with this policy. This policy describes the types of information the Church may collect from you or that you may provide when you visit the Website and our best practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information. This policy applies to information we collect:

  • In email, text, and other electronic messages between you and this Website.
  • When you interact with our partners’ or affiliates’ applications and websites, if those applications include links to this policy.

Children Under the Age of 18

Information the Church Collects About You and How it is Collected

The Church collects several types of information from and about users of the Website, including information:

  • That is about you but individually does not identify you, such as the small groups you participate in, your membership in upRising, and upRising  events in which you participate – including those events in which you serve as a volunteer.
  • About your internet connection, the equipment that you use to access the Website and usage details, such as device operating system, hardware version, device settings, file and software names and types, battery and signal strength, device identifiers, name of your mobile operator or internet service provider, browser type, language and time zone, mobile phone number and IP address.

The Church collects this information:

  • Directly from you when you provide it to the Church, including by sending email(s), completing online requests, forms, or surveys.
  • Automatically as you navigate through the Website.

The Church may combine the information you submit on the Website with information received from other upRising Church sources to provide certain services to you, offer you a better experience and to improve the quality of our services. Examples of the above include, but are not limited to, providing online giving services (through the Church or third-party contractors – which information may or may not be stored by the Church), presenting you with spiritual development opportunities, adding new features, and analyzing the performance of our Website. For certain services, we may allow you to opt out of combining such information.

The information the Church collects on or through the Website may include:

  • Information that you provide by filling in forms on our Website, which includes information provided at the time of registering to use our Website, registering to receive information regarding a small group or upRising service or group, posting material or requesting additional or further services. We may also ask you for information when you make a contribution or donation or report a problem with this Website.
  • Records and copies of your correspondence (including email addresses) if you contact us.
  • Your response to surveys that we might ask you to complete for research purposes and to improve the services and experiences of our participants.
  • Small groups you participate in, volunteer teams on which you work, your membership and your registration for upRising events.

You also may provide information to be published or displayed (“posted”) on public areas on the Website to other users of the Website or to third parties (“User Contributions”) such as by sending e-mails, posting messages to chat groups, or otherwise completing online forms or surveys. Any information provided in such communications may be collected as personal information. Your User Contributions are posted or transmitted to others at your own risk. Although you may set certain privacy settings for such information by logging into your account profile on the Website, please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable. The Church strives to provide you with choices regarding the personal information you provide to the Church. The Church has created mechanisms to provide you with the following controls over your information:

  • You may decline to submit personal information to the Website for any of the Church’s services, in which case the Church may not be able to provide those services to you or provide those services to you as efficiently as possible. As a visitor to the Website, you can engage in many activities without providing any personal information.

How is Your Information Protected?

The Church uses appropriate and commercially reasonable security measures to protect against unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, use, disclosure, or destruction of your data including internal reviews of our data collection, storage, and processing practices and security measures, as well as physical security measures to guard against unauthorized access to systems where personal data is stored by the Church. Unless explicit permission is obtained from you, the Church will limit access to personal information only to those of the Church’s staff, contractors, and agents who need to know that information to operate, develop, improve, or deliver services. These individuals are bound by confidentiality obligations and may be subject to discipline, including termination and criminal prosecution, if they fail to meet these obligations.

Any payment transactions are encrypted as provided by the Church’s third-party vendors and processors.

The safety and security of your information also depends on you. Where the Church has given you (or where you have chosen) a password for access to certain parts of the Website, you are responsible for keeping this password safe and confidential. The Church asks you not to share your password with anyone. The Church urges you to be careful about giving out information in public areas of the Website. If you delete your User Contributions from the Website, copies of your User Contributions may remain viewable in cached and archived pages or might have been copied or stored by other Website users.

You may also send the Church an email to request access to, correct, or delete any personal information that you have provided to us. When you use any of the Church’s services, the Church makes a good faith effort to provide you with access to your personal information and either to correct this data if it is inaccurate or to delete such data at your request if it is not otherwise required to be retained by law or for legitimate purposes related to Perimeter Church’s business. In any case, where the Church provides information access and correction, the Church performs this service free of charge, except if doing so would require a disproportionate effort or expense. The procedure to correct or remove your data will vary depending on the requested change. In some cases, the Church cannot delete your personal information except by deleting your user account on the Website.

The Church will post any changes made to this policy on this page on the Website. If we make material changes as to how the Church treats user personal information, the Church will notify you by email to the primary email address specified in your user account or through a notice on the home page for the Website.
